Adorn – ‘Let Love Remain’

Let Love Remain is the eclectic, hard-rocking debut album from Dallas-based band Adorn, featuring seasoned musicians from the Dallas-Fort Worth scene. Formed in 2021, the band comprises vocalist Austin Gordon, guitarists Kalen and Eric Orr, drummer Ray Rose, and bassist Logan Gavaldo. The album excels in unleashing a modern alternative rock with post-hardcore influence, set alongside themes of societal polarization and the vital need for human connection

The album enthralls in its captivating range, from piano-forward introspection to rousing rock-ready heights. The former is present as the album gets underway with “Let Love Remain,” its heartfelt vocal harmonies and serene piano work culminating in a title-bearing plea. “The Brave and Bled Defiant” follows with a thunderous rock vigor, shifting seamlessly into a full-throttle blast of ardency. “Take what you can!” the vocals let out, depicting a tumult-filled world with a tendency for selfishness. Its “don’t turn back” and title-referencing proclamations move into a dexterous “concrete jungle” fervor, invigorating in its dexterous guitar work and shout-y vocals, attaining a guttural entrancement past the first minute.

Elsewhere, “New Daily Reformation” finds an enjoyable middle ground between contemplative, climactic intrigue and erupting rock immediacy. The chorus’ exploration of being saved from oneself is touched by pulsing guitar intensity and elongated vocal passion, while moments like the three-minute turn delight with a build-up of dreamy, twangy guitars that expand into a trickling fury. Additional standouts include the ferocious, hard-rocking showcase “Zero Hour” and album finale “Shep,” seamlessly moving from “family isn’t forever” melancholic reminders and piano-touched somberness to cathartic doses of distortion. Let Love Remain is a dynamic rock tour-de-force from Adorn.
