Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile launched in March 2024, allowing players access to “large-scale battle royale maps and a selection of classic multiplayer maps and modes.” Progress on mobile was also carried over to the console and PC versions of the hit game.

Despite more than 50million players pre-registering for Warzone Mobile, the game was removed from online stores last May after it failed to meet “expectations”. It’s now been confirmed that servers will be taken offline on April 17, 2026 meaning existing owners can no longer play the game.

“While we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call Of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately did not meet our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences,” explained a blog post. “Refunds are not available for previously purchased in-game content or unused COD Points.”

Activision has suggested players check out the free-to-play Call Of Duty: Mobile instead, while Warzone is still playable on PC and console.

“According to Google Play, this game has over 100 million downloads and it is shutting down after only 2 years. I guess that microtransactions weren’t selling well to continue the support… But it is insane how many mobile games go offline, even if they seemingly do well,” wrote one fan on Reddit.

“It’s like they couldn’t decide whether or not they wanted to be real COD or weird mobile COD…on top of Call Of Duty: Mobile existing and having tons of legacy content,” added another. “It was cool and had more eyecandy but the problem was that COD:M exists and can run on older hardware. Warzone: Mobile made little sense unless [they planned on] replacing COD:M for some reason,” explained a third.

At the end of last year, Call Of Duty bosses promised major changes following the lacklustre response to Black Ops 7.

In other news, the soundtrack for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has broken UK chart records following a vinyl release.
