Call Of Duty has announced some major changes following the divisive launch of Black Ops 7.
The sequel to last year’s record-breaking Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released last month but was met with a lukewarm response from fans. The game sold a drastically lower amount compared to its predecessor while experts claim the franchise as a whole has had a “tough” year, with fewer players than ever before.
Players have complained about the “terrible” co-op campaign which features zombies, giants and killer robots, while others have criticised how similar the rest of the game feels to Black Ops 6 despite Activision charging full price for the sequel. There’s also been backlash about AI art in the game.
In a new blog post, the Call Of Duty team has addressed the controversial launch of Black Ops 7. “Call Of Duty has enjoyed long-standing success because of all of you, a passionate community that demands excellence and deserves nothing less,” they wrote. “We also know that for some of you, the franchise has not met your expectations fully. To be very clear, we know what you expect and rest assured we will deliver, and overdeliver, on those expectations as we move forward.”
The team have said they’re committed to “unprecedented” seasonal support for Black Ops 7 going forward inspired by player feedback. “We won’t rest until Black Ops 7 earns its place as one of the best Black Ops games we’ve ever made.”
