The nominations for the Golden Globes 2026 were announced earlier today (December 8), with Sydney Sweeney one of the most high-profile snubs.
Sweeney’s Christy, in which she plays the titular boxer Christy Martin, didn’t receive any nominations. The biopic was released in cinemas on November 7, but became one of the biggest movie flops of all time after failing to break into the top 10 at the box office in its opening weekend.
On social media, many users weren’t surprised about the movie’s failure to receive any Golden Globes nominations, following its underwhelming critical and commercial reaction.
“The Globes showing the same amount of interest in it that audiences did,” one wrote, while another said: “There was nothing to snub.”

“Girl what is this? That movie was going to go NOWHERE,” said another, while one X (Twitter) user added: “You can’t call everything a ‘snub’, especially when she never had a chance, other than the campaign they have push[ed] for weeks, with no real support, reviews nor box office, to sustain it.”
