In the biggest fixture of Serie A Round 14, Juventus were outplayed by Napoli en route to a 1-2 defeat at the Stadio Maradona.
The Partenopei took an early lead through Rasmus Hojlund, and could have added more, but Kenan Yildiz finished off a slick play that dragged the Bianconeri back into the contest. However, Napoli’s Danish striker nodded home his second of the evening, gifting Antonio Conte a well-deserved victory over Luciano Spalletti.
So here are our player ratings for Juventus, who had a long trip back to Turin after putting on a poor display in Napoli.
Michele Di Gregorio – 6
The Italian shot-stopper could do little about the opener. Almost produced a brilliant save on the second, but the power took it past him.
Pierre Kalulu – 5
The Frenchman was lucky to escape a red card following a nasty challenge on Mathias Olivera. He then left McKennie high and dry on the second goal, failing to offer proper support.
Lloyd Kelly – 5
The Englishman lost track of Hojlund on the first goal and generally struggled to contain the former Man Utd striker.
Teun Koopmeiners – 5.5
Although it’s not exactly his fault since he’s being played out of position, the Dutchman expectedly struggled against one of the most in-form Serie A players in David Neres, who dribbled past him on the opener.
Andrea Cambiaso – 5
An underwhelming outing from the Italy international who failed to make himself noticed.
Manuel Locatelli – 6.5
Perhaps some of his passes were wayward, but the Juventus captain put on a real shift in the middle of the park. His tenacious tackling instigated the timely equaliser.
Khephren Thuram – 5.5
A mediocre display from the Frenchman, who was second best to Scott McTominay and Eljif Elmas.
Juan Cabal – 4.5
Another disappointing showing from the Colombian, who failed to offer proper support for Koopmeiners in his battle with Neres. He was equally poor in the attacking phase, so he was hauled off at half-time.
Francisco Conceicao – 6
The Portuguese winger found little joy in the final third, but at least had a hand in the Juventus goal.
Weston McKennie – 5.5
The American set up the equaliser with a perfectly-timed assist for Yildiz. However, this was all undone by his disastrous attempt to clear the ball, as he inadvertently provided another assist, this time for Hojlund.
Kenan Yildiz – 6.5
The Turkish international was isolated in the first half while playing as false 9, but he only needed a moment of magic to mastermind a clever team play and finish it off with a cool and clinical touch. His premature exit was puzzling for everyone watching.
Jonathan David – 5
Another listless display from the Canadian. Avoids a below-par grade thanks to a last-minute flick that almost culminated in a second equaliser for Juventus.
Filip Kostic – 4.5
Offered little to nothing in both phases. Wasted a promising chance by mishitting the ball, and gave Neres enough space to deliver the cross on the equaliser.
Fabio Miretti – 5.5
Ran hard in midfield, but didn’t make himself noticed.
Lois Openda – 4.5
If his plan was to go invisible throughout his cameo, he certainly succeeded.
Edon Zhegrova – 6
Spalletti’s only positive introduction, but unfortunately, he had very little time to make an impact. Created a last-gasp chance, but couldn’t apply the finishing touch.
