A month or two ago, nothing about this fixture suggested it would be a milestone game in the Premier League title race. Aston Villa aren’t a title contender but the simple mathematics of it means that everyone has to pretend they are when Arsenal come to town on Saturday.
Villa continued their spectacular run on Wednesday night, making it six wins in a row in the Premier League and in Europe by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion to inflict the Seagulls’ first home loss of the 2025/26 season.
Unai Emery has eked one hell of a season out of the mess that was August and September. Football is a ridiculous sport and Villa are the greatest exponents of its ludicrous stupidity.
Anyway, we’re on the box on Saturday.
After the chaos of last Sunday afternoon and a packed midweek schedule shown entirely on Sky Sports, the Premier League returns to its usual routine this weekend.
Villa’s home game against league leaders Arsenal is this weekend’s TNT Sports pick and will be played in the broadcasters usual time slot.
Villa v Arsenal will kick off at 12.30pm on Saturday 6th December.
Villa v Arsenal is this week’s 12.30pm kick-off in the Premier League. The broadcast rights for that time slot belong to TNT Sports and this fixture will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1.
Fans with the necessary subscriptions will also be able to watch along on the Discovery+ platform.
