Li Kuan is a London-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is a classically trained artist. Her acoustic rendition of her song ‘The Fireworks’ is a testament to her ability as a vocalist and instrumentalist. The arrangement is hauntingly beautiful and masterfully arranged. The final flurry of sound, with Li Kuan Herself on violin, is delightful.

The introduction is sweet with a softly plucked acoustic guitar. Li Kuan’s vocals quickly mesmerise the listener. She creates a trance-like atmosphere. As her vocals grip hold, she subtly turns up the heat. A steady rise of emotion takes place, never going too far but getting her point across with passion and poise. As with all her work, Li Kuan is very intentional with how she uses volume and her voice to create impact. The music is unlike pop that’s just for fun; there is a deeper meaning behind every sound she lets us hear.
Li Kuan’s catalogue includes three songs that offer a genuinely unique take on life and love. Her sound is unlike many on offer. She offers a reserved beauty in her vocals and musical timing that is rarely seen. I look forward to her future releases and am excited to see where she goes now.
