The original Death Stranding launched in 2019 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive before coming to PC in 2020. Death Stranding: Director’s Cut was available for PlayStation 5 users in September 2021 but PC owners had to wait until March 2022.

The PlayStation-exclusive Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was released in July 2025 but it seems a PC version is ready to launch. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) temporarily updated their website yesterday (November 26) with information about the PC edition of Death Stranding 2. The leak was swiftly taken down but not before fans had shared the news on social media.

It’s speculated that an official announcement will come next month as part of The Game Awards, which take place December 11.

Xbox gamers might be waiting a while for Death Stranding 2 though. A full five years passed between the launch of the original and the release of the Xbox version.

Earlier this year, creator Hideo Kojima revealed he had plans for a third Death Stranding game but was convinced he didn’t want to make it himself. “If I passed it on to someone else, they could probably make it,” he added.

Kojima is currently working on a big screen adaptation of Death Stranding with A24 though won’t be directing it himself.  “I’ll let them work on it without too much of my input, because that might get in their way,” he explained. I’ don’t want to go in and ask them to make a bunch of changes; that’s not cool. I have to trust these people.”

Kojima is also developing a game with celebrated horror director Jordan Peele and has plans for a new stealth game, codename Physint, though that probably won’t be released until 2030. There’s also an anime adaptation of Death Stranding in the works at Disney+ that will introduce new characters to the dystopian world.

In other news, the first name for the live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation has been revealed, with the Netflix show set to stray from the hit video games.
