Burnley manager Scott Parker has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season, praising Mikel Arteta’s side as a complete and well-balanced team following their 2-0 victory at Turf Moor.
The Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points with the win, continuing an impressive run of clean sheets and defensive solidity.
“They are just a very, very good team,” Parker said after the match.
“They are a team that, I believe, have every single ingredient to go on and win the league this year. In every facet of their game: defensively, attacking-wise, set plays. They are a top, top team. And we just fell a little bit short today.”
The Burnley boss had already expressed admiration for Arsenal’s tactical approach before the match, dismissing suggestions that the London club relied heavily on set-pieces for success.
“I’m not sure I see it like that,” he said. “When I’m watching them, I see a fluid team really, I see an unbelievably well-coached team that solve situations.”
“This is definitely not a team that just rely on set plays now. Obviously over the course of the start of this season there’s been key moments where they’ve got wins from set plays. [But] this is a well-oiled team and a functional team that are very fluid in the way they play really.”
Arsenal’s first goal against Burnley came from a well-executed set-piece, while the second arrived on the counterattack following a failed long throw from Burnley’s Kyle Walker.
Declan Rice finished off the move to secure the three points and further highlight the versatility of Arteta’s side.
Contrary to some criticism, Arsenal have shown they can win matches in multiple ways — through intricate build-up play, tactical discipline, or set-piece precision.
That flexibility, combined with one of the league’s best defensive records, has placed them firmly in control of the Premier League title race.
