Aston Villa went into the international break having contributed next to nothing in terms of FPL points and as the only team in England’s top four divisions without a goal in 2025/26.
Smarter Fantasy Premier League managers than me have probably jettisoned their Villa players already but accepted FPL wisdom dictates that the players I have in my team will perform the moment I drop them.
Villa’s top points scorer across the three games is Matty Cash, the only Villa player to crack double figures. There is no value here. I haven’t heeded my own advice yet, but that advice is this: get rid.
Cash was in 5% of FPL teams in Gameweek 3. By comparison, Ollie Watkins was still in 18.3% of teams and has contributed a whopping 6 points so far.
With the exception of zero-point Marco Bizot, every Villa player who featured against Crystal Palace managed to hold on to at least a point on Sunday.
Only five Villa players bagged a second point: Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, John McGinn and Watkins.
Player | GW3 Points |
---|---|
Morgan Rogers | 2 |
Youri Tielemans | 2 |
Donyell Malen | 2 |
John McGinn | 2 |
Ollie Watkins | 2 |
Lucas Digne | 1 |
Ezri Konsa | 1 |
Ian Maatsen | 1 |
Tyrone Mings | 1 |
Pau Torres | 1 |
Lamare Bogarde | 1 |
Emi Buendía | 1 |
Evann Guessand | 1 |
Brad Burrowes | 1 |
The top scorer in the AVF league in GW3 was BLACK VILLAIN with 82 points, which fired the team all the way up to 26th place. 29 of those points came from Crystal Palace players, which definitely hurts a little bit.
Gary James bagged 52 points to stay at the top with a hugely impressive total of 240. Warren Torch claimed 72 points to move up to second place in a new-look top four, capitalising on points for captain João Pedro and Palace defender Marc Guéhi.
Alexander Mortimer stays in last place despite bonus points for Guéhi and Alisson, while I’ve shambled my way out of the bottom five with a better gameweek than anyone else in the bottom 13.
Still, 122 points is nothing to celebrate. What a silly game.
