Slugfeast sure do marry a slacker rock aesthetic with a dream pop like vocal. The contrast is intriguing and may well put some off ‘Detective’s scent but for all the shoegaze like dirty guitar action we know it will feel like a win because Claire Tauber carries the day through a mix of innocence and hope and a character drawn that we’re all rooting for. It moves slowly through the gears and in the process our smile grows steadily in time. KH
