A soulful, lush envelopment guides on “Careless,” a new single from Detroit-based singer/songwriter Grace Lee. “I’ve been dreaming, waiting on your feelings,” she sings, escalating into the “wasting my time,” catharsis — bolstered by chilly strings and eventual theremin-laden nostalgia. Wordless vocal soulfulness lingers gorgeous in the final minute, culminating in a fantastic conclusion with emphasis on the lingering strings. “Careless” is an atmospheric and melodic treat.

“I wrote this song about continuing to love someone who has is obviously not going to treat you thoughtfully,” Lee explains. “They are careless with your feelings, and you keep pursuing them without caring how it will affect you.”
